Best Practices in Digital Education

Formerly known as Distance Learning 101/102, this professional development (PD) cohort opportunity will support ABE teachers, staff, and administrators in setting learners up for success in asynchronous supported distance learning and synchronous online class formats (fully online, blended, HyFlex, etc.). We’ll focus on discussion of new research, readings, and resources as well as best practices in digital education, digital equity, digital resilience, learner orientation, ongoing digital navigation/tech support, and instruction & assessment.

The purpose of this PD initiative is to build the capacity of MN Adult Ed staff, programs, and consortia to offer quality digital education programming and distance learning opportunities for their learners based on established best practices. Participants who are accepted, fully participate, and complete the course requirements will receive a stipend of $250 from Literacy Minnesota and 20 CEUs.

The online kickoff will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, 9:00-11:30am, and the cohort experience will conclude in late February/early March 2027. Participants will work together in a supportive cohort of peers from around the state to address critical issues in digital education and improve their programmatic and/or instructional practices.
